I was reading my absolute-without-a-doubt-favourite-blog-for-the-moment, and read this article about taking back your mornings.

How he starts the day right, and how everything that he does after that is tinted with a sense of self achievement.

I want to be that!

I used to be able to wake up very early but lately I haven’t been doing that, so one of my goals is really to start waking up earlier.

I tried waking up earlier at 4am the other day, but that was a total failure because when I woke up, all I felt was tired and glued to my bed, so I shut my eyes and continued sleeping.

Looking back at it, I was setting myself up for failure because I’d been waking up at 8:30am on average every day, and suddenly I thought it would be a good idea to wake up 4 hours earlier.

So what my new plan is for now, is to wake myself up half an hour earlier every week.

Right now, my sleep cycle is slightly disturbed because my boyfriend will call me at about 5 or 6am, I speak to him for a bit, then I go back to sleep before waking up at 8am again. I have a feeling this isn’t particularly healthy (oh, he’s in a different time zone, that’s why he calls at that time) but my ultimate goal is to be able to wake up at 5am and last throughout the day. You might say maybe we can speak at another time, but I do like starting the day by hearing from him.

This definitely means sleeping earlier, so I’m going to make the commitment to sleep earlier too. My target bedtime will be 10pm (yes, I have turned into a grandmother) but I should make sure I’m asleep no later than 11pm, then I think my waking up will not be a problem.

It starts tonight, I will sleep at 10pm!
